Administration of Medication

Administration and Storage of Medication provides carers with an introduction to the principles of safe medication management. Suitable for those working in hospitals, care homes, community settings, and domiciliary care, the course covers the preparation, administration, storage, monitoring, and recording of medication. Please note that this course is knowledge-based and does not contain a practical component.

John Foley RMN, RGN, RNMH, Dip Comm H, Member of ESNA, Member of the Epilepsy Task Force, Founder Member of Scottish Professionals Epilepsy Network.

John was a Nurse Specialist for people who have epilepsy and a learning disability in the Lothian Health Area. He played a leading part in the development of the Lothian Health training standards in the administration of rectal diazepam and and remains closely involved in developing training programmes for all staff involved in the care of people with epilepsy.

Important Information

This course is theory-based and provides an introduction to the principles of medication management. It does not include a practical assessment or supervised practice in the administration of medication. Learners requiring competency-based training should undertake additional practical training within their workplace.
